It's back like me!

NFL PLAYOFF PICKS! This will be done right here with a simple reply system!

I'll post each round as they are confirmed. You come in before the game (I'll close picks with my own roughly the night before gamedays start so I can recap and tally all picks made) to post your picks and see how you do! 1 pick per matchup BUT unlike other pools you don't got to do them all. Why? I give props for 2 sets of winners:

-Top Player for overall most correct picks (for those who pick pretty much for all games per round)

-Top Player for best WINNING PERCENTAGE (minimum 3 games picked for now-so even if you make 3 right picks you got bragging rights too that way!)

So pick and choose as you wish! Give it a try! I will be around so just ask me if you got questions. All for fun!

Of course Week 1 of Playoff Games starts on Saturday, January 9th so picks close on the 8th by midnight.

I will when tallying picks include this posting also on Portego and my blogs.  Keep an eye out for my post on the matchups and just reply and choose away!  Good luck!

UPDATE:
Here are your matchups so you can make picks now for Week One of the NFL Playoffs!

AFC
Byes: Indianapolis and San Diego
Matchups:
1. New England Patriots vs. Baltimore Ravens
2. Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets

NFC
Byes: New Orleans and Minnesota
Matchups:
3. Dallas vs. Philadelphia
4. Arizona vs. Green Bay

So pick before games start on Saturday, good luck and have fun!

I'm in so without further adieu here's my picks via the Andynator 2010 prediction machine

1. New England Patriots vs. Baltimore Ravens

-Like DTM i have no love for the pats cause i'm a dolphins fan.Anyway looking at this Brady's hurt Welker's gone for the season and Randy Moss hasn't been happy.Add in the Ravens have a decent defence and i'd say asta lavista Pats see you in 2010-11.

However i've got this nasty knawing feling that those Pats will be hook or crook pull it out just to spite us all.

Andy says Pats 20 Ravens 17 in OT

2. Cincinnati Bengals vs. New York Jets
-Now i said that i got no love for the Pats but I've got a downright disdain for the Jets in that I dislike them intently especailly this season. And after the Bengals more or less lay down this week i'm hoping that the opposite happens on the weekend so please Mr Ochocinco mwin for me.

Andy says Bengals 21 Jets 10

Back with my NFC picks tomorrow

Why ty DTM just hope i'm right.

NFC
3. Dallas vs. Philadelphia

-An NFC east battle with two much supported and much criticsed teams with high profile QB's.
Dallas hasn't won a playoff game iun a long time but have come good this year since Tony Romo replaced Jessica simpson as his QB coach .Philly with everyone's fav QB to moan about Donavon Mcnabb have the firepower and with this game having something on it I think they can continue the Dallas no playoff win streak.

Andy says Eagles 24 Cowboys 21

4. Arizona vs. Green Bay
-Another repeat of last week with last years cinderlla story the Cards against the Packers.Green bay got the win last week so have the edge and if the shut down Kurt Warner they win. This will be close and perhaps another OT decided games.

Andy says Arizona 27 Green Bay 24 OT

There you have it now to wait and see.

No...because for one I already suck at math and got enough calculating as it is.  :P

Two because I'm calculating based on wins and winning percentage that bonus points don't make sense.  Feel free to show off skills if you want to predict scores or the betting lines too.  I close picks late tomorrow so anyone else get your picks in ASAP!  Good luck!

PLAYOFF PICKS ARE NOW CLOSED FOR WEEK 1!
Good luck with your picks in this Wild Card Round.  Below are my picks and the tally of your stats to date.
HARU’s PICKS
AFC-New England vs. Baltimore: This is the one game I kept waffling back and forth on being the one game not involving the same opponents facing each other since week 17 of the regular season.  Baltimore could have beaten New England back in the regular season, and now with top NFL receiver Wes Welker of the Pats now gone, they might just catch a sore and defensively youthful Patriots team at the right time.  It will be ugly considering the weather too being cold and snowy, not good for a banged up Tom Brady and maybe the even field sophomore QB Joe Flacco needs.
Haru chooses the Baltimore Ravens.
Cincinnati vs. New York: I can’t figure out what Jets coach Rex Ryan says from day to day, but the truth of the matter is this Jets team is very young and not quite seasoned to make any dents in the playoffs.  Give Mark Sanchez time, but I think he will wilt under more pressure.  The Bengals have had a lot to think about with 2 people close to the organization passing away, but I think now they can focus at home unlike last week’s game in New York Jets territory, and maybe Ocho Cinco can have that big game; after all he said his bum knee is healed...after having sex!
Haru chooses the Cincinnati Bengals.
NFC-Dallas vs. Philadelphia: One of three Week 17 rematches, I think those games were deceiving except this one.  I look back at my picks to win at the beginning of the year and I took a chance on Dallas winning the division because I truly think they suffered enough and matured.  I think QB Tony Romo has matured the most and will get the monkey off his back in the new stadium of never winning a playoff game.  The Eagles won’t be easy but seem to be exposed a bit when Dallas took all-star receiver DeSean Jackson off his game.  Look for an inspirational DeMarcus Ware on defence to be the difference ever since his scary injury a few weeks ago but bouncing back ever since to give some heart to this team.
Haru chooses the Dallas Cowboys.
Arizona vs. Green Bay: Even if the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t make the playoffs, the runner up Cardinals did despite being the lowest home seed in the playoffs.  I think they drew one of the worst matchups in the Packers who quietly had as good of a season as the Cardinals, led by QB Aaron Rodgers.  Arizona is a year older but that also means an older Kurt Warner at QB who might be without one of his top receivers in Anquan Boldin this game.  Keep an eye on a healed up tight end Jermichael Finley for Green Bay to be a surprise game breaker.
Haru chooses the Green Bay Packers.

PLAYER NAME      # GAMES PICKED   WINS-LOSSES   WINNING PERCENTAGE (WINS/GAMES)
HARU         4         0-0      .000
DTM         4         0-0      .000
ANDONE      4         0-0      .000
Week 1 picks:
HARU-BAL/CIN/DAL/GB
DTM-BAL/NYJ/DAL/ARI
ANDONE-NE/CIN/PHI/ARI
Good luck!

WEEK 2 of the NFL PLAYOFF POOL IS CLOSED!

Here are Haru’s picks, followed by the standings and picks by other players:

NFC - Arizona at New Orleans: I feel like the dog days of the winter are with us, a little hint of how my picks will go this week.  The lone game that was actually good since it wasn’t an all out blowout but was a shootout was the one won by Arizona.  The Cardinals look like they might pull another run (sigh from the Divisional rival fan of the 49ers...) as they won without Anquan Boldin while Kurt Warner managed to be nearly perfect at finding receivers like Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston at will.  This is a good matchup with another pass happy team in the Saints, who slumped at the end of the season and might not find their mojo in time.  If Drew Brews looks normal they will struggle, though the running game trio of Pierre Thomas, Mike Bell and Reggie Bush did get to rest during the bye week.  I still think that Warner might be hot at the right time to lead another long playoff run now, and add this is an indoors game should keep Warner’s arm nice and fresh.
Haru takes the Arizona Cardinals.

Dallas at Minnesota: Another team that slumped at the end of the season seemed to be the Vikings, opening things up for anyone to win the NFC now, even the usually inept Cowboys.  While Minnesota did blow out a win to end the season, Brett Favre is still 40 years old and likely going to retire like Warner at year’s end (knock on wood...).  Unlike Warner, Favre over the last few years runs out of gas this late in the season.  More concerning is how bad the supposed #1 running back in the NFL Adrian Peterson looks normal and fumble-prone.  The Cowboys meanwhile might have like many teams had learned enough from past failures to put it all together.  Their defence is the best of the NFC right now led by the inspirational DeMarcus Ware, while Tony Romo isn’t making mistakes, throwing only when needed while letting guys like Felix Jones and Marion Barber run the ball again.  This might be the year of the Cowboys in their new stadium, but their road record is decent enough too to handle the Vikings while also being indoors sure helps for this game as well.
Haru takes the Dallas Cowboys.

AFC - Baltimore at Indianapolis: As my picks continue, so does my interest in the underdog seeds.  Baltimore is doing what they do best: shut down the offense with defensive studs like Ed Reed, Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis.  These dirty birds attack the QB like they did last week, and will make MVP QB Peyton Manning force throws too.  They also won despite sophomore QB Joe Flacco barely being a factor, letting an amazing running game come back that was absent early in the season in Willis McGahee, Le’Ron McClain and the rising Ray Rice.  The Colts have issues handling the rush even with guys like Dwight Freeney on defence with his patented spin move.  If the Ravens keep Manning off the field, they can win this one very handily.
Haru takes the Baltimore Ravens.

New York Jets at San Diego: Well I think I should end my dog picks and take one favourite here, and it’s for good reason.  The Chargers are the hottest team going into the post season, and the bye week actually helps them heal up older players like LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates who have been good in spurts this year, allowing guys like Vincent Jackson and Darren Sproles to shine under the heavily forgotten QB Philip Rivers.  Despite the Jets having a great defence led by shutdown king Darrelle Revis; San Diego has way more weapons to go to in order to avoid matchups.  Don’t underrate the Charger defence either, as guys like Eric Weddle will make it much harder for Mark Sanchez to have time to find open receivers, while that’s good since then they can focus to better their not-so-good rush defence against the Jets’ Thomas Jones.  I think this is finally the Chargers year to finally get over the hump and make the Super Bowl!
Haru takes the San Diego Chargers.

PLAYER NAME      # GAMES PICKED   WINS-LOSSES   WINNING PERCENTAGE (WINS/GAMES)
DTM         4         4-0      1.000
HARU         4         2-2      .500
ANDONE      4         1-3      .250

Week 2 picks:
HARU-ARI/DAL/BAL/SD
DTM-NO/DAL/IND/SD
ANDONE-NO/MIN/IND/SD

Good luck!
