The Challenge:
Written from Hermione's point of view, as she bears Sev's child. It must start as Hermione begins to feel labor pains, but after that, you can do it however you wish to do it. Just make it like past The First Time challenge, only this time, it MUST be from HErmione's point of view. Instead of having it the first time SS see's his child's face, have it be Hermione seeing her child's face for the first time.

1. Please have your fic include...
i) Hermione actually giving birth (how she feels, etc.)
ii) A bickering SS and Harry Potter in the waiting room (they can bicker about anything, as long as they are bickering)
iii) Hermione telling SS that if he ever EVER even looks at her funny, she will do something dreadful to him (you can make "dreadful" be whatever you like- physical harm, etc.)

2^nd Person Challenge[/b]
 
What you say?  You’ve never heard of 2^nd-person point-of-view.  In 2nd-person narrative, there is no narrator.  The main character is referred to as "you".

Though not the most popular, 2^nd-person POV can be loads of fun to write and read.  In fact, I would so love to read a SS/HG, 2^nd-person story, that I’m putting it into a challenge.
 
The Rules:[/b]
 
1.      All stories must feature Hermione Granger and Severus Snape in some way.
2.      All stories must be written in 2^nd-person POV.
3.      “You” must be a character or creature from the Harry Potter Series.  Be creative!  “You” could be not only our beloved man in black, but Harry Potter, McGonagall, Flitwick, Filch, Dumbledore, Fleur Delacour, Moaning Myrtle, Colin Creevey, or Hagrid.  In fact “you” don’t even need to be human!  “You” could be Peeves, a house-elf, a dementor, a basilisk, or Crookshanks!   Let your imagination run wild!

Details for the "A fair account" challenge

The setting:
It has been years since the fall of Voldemort, and a lot of splashy, loose and romantisising accounts of the war against him have since been published.

Now, in her function as a ........ (fill in a feasible job of your choice here), Hermione Granger has been given the task of writing a true and accurate account of the war against - and ultimate fall of - Voldemort.

And, well, how could a proper and accurate account come into being without the input of the surviving key players of the war?

The challenge:
Tell us what happens when Hermione Granger goes to talk to Severus Snape in order to get a true account of his role in the war.

The questions to keep in mind:
- Where is Severus Snape now, and what is he doing?
- What exactly is Hermione's job?
- Where and how will Hermione find Severus?
- Will he consent to being quizzed for details, or be reluctant to share those memories? How much is he allowed to share? Why?
- If he doesn't want to play along, how does Hermione convince him? Does she?
- What do those two think about each other at the beginning, and how do their feelings progress?

The requirements:
- HG/SS story of any type (romance, friendship, angst, .......)
(now, wasn't that a short list....)

The length:
Any length at all

The Adoption Act

The war with Voldemort has been won but at a high cost. The loss of life in the wizarding world is staggering. Everyone has lost at least one person close to them, and a many people can now see the thestrals that pull the Hogwarts carriages.


The losses have affected more than just the hearts and minds of people. There are an alarming number of children that are now without parents, many more than the Ministry can take care of. Makeshift orphanages are overflowing. As a result, the Ministry has made the Adoption Act. It requires everyone above 20 years of age that is not attending University to take in at least one child (anyone below 17 years of age), unless they already have at least two children in their care. Married couples are only required to take in one child. Those who are over the age of 80 don’t have to take in a child. (Okay, you caught me here, I was inspired in part by the Marriage Law Challenge, hope no one minds. If you do, just tell me.)


The Challenge: Severus Snape survived the war and is thought of by many to be a hero. However, this does not exempt him frm this new law. What happens when Severus has to take in a child?

Requirements:
*Takes place in or after Hermione’s 7th year, so Hermione and the rest of her year are not put in homes.
*Girl or boy? How old? Did he know the child beforehand? How does the child feel about him?
*Show some interaction between him and his charge. Does he see him/her as a burden, or did he willingly take him/her in (perhaps as another form of redemption)? If it’s the former, does he start to care for him/her?
*How do Hermione and Severus get together? Does she help him with his charge, "babysit" for the staff, or is she taking care of a child herself? Do she and Severus come to an arrangement of convenience?
*Someone challenges Severus’s right to be a care-giver, and someone unexpected defends him.
*Deal with some of the emotional aftermath of the war and its affect on the children, as well as them having new parent figures that are not really their parents.
*It can be any length and any rating.


Bonuses:
*Percy gets saddled with a troublemaker.
*Minerva McGonagall takes in a child.
*Remus wants to be a care-giver, but there is controversy because of his "condition".
*Hermione teaching some man how to braid hair because their charge is a young girl.
*Severus’s charge manipulates him and Hermione into being together.
*There is controversy over the fact that some of the "children" are the last of longstanding pureblood lineage, and people want to adopt them. Some problems pop up because of this.

Rules!

Main people will of course be Severus and Hermione.
Snape must remain in Canon as much as possible, Hermione and the kids are allowed to change regarding the fact they have no grown up.
Hermione is ether in her 6th or 7th year at Hogswart
Length of story, is up to the author
Rating should be ether R or 17+
The story should try to be tasteful, reasonable, or original, but you are allowed if you wish to write it completely smut.
 
Plot!

Hermione sneaks in to Snape’s office/Private Chamber/Class room at night to steal some potion ingredients, but this time gets caught red handed. Snape finally has and excuse getting her expelled.
 
Why and what she steals is up to the author.
What Hermione says/does/promises to make Severus let her go, is up to the author.
Severus is bad/cruel/naughty just way we love him.
The story does not have to contain sex, but should at least have a sexual undertone, innuendoes, or tension.
Allow yourself to be inspired by this quote from Goblet of Fire “Harry could tell Snape was thoroughly enjoying himself denying Harry the thing he wanted when he was so panicky”

And Thou Shalt Not. A Question of Right or Wrong

This is a challenge that will deal with adult issues and themes and questions
about morality (or not)

The Challenge

Severus Snape once had the love of Hermione Granger.  Whether it was from a
distance or a close relationship is up to the writer. For whatever reason
Severus pushed her away.  Whether it was because he did not return her love,
feared for her or him, didn’t believe he deserved it etc.  Explain why.

Now he wants her.  Is it real love, lust, just an obsession, perhaps because he
cannot have her, etc. You decide. Maybe Severus doesn’t even realize the real
reason why he must have her.

Things are not always easy.  Hermione is now married and is happy.  It does not
have to be the perfect marriage however these things CANNOT be said about the
marriage or her husband. 1) It was a marriage of convenience. 2) That either
party is unhappy. 3) Her husband is abusive, self centered, neglectful or
cheating on her.  Basically it is a solid marriage.

Rules:
1)   A history included on Severus/Hermione relationship and why they did
not wind up together. 
2)   Hermione has been married at least 5 years to a Canon character other
than Ron or Harry (be inventive, there are other males in the wizarding world)
3)   Hermione may or may not have children (bonus for having children, it
makes it more complex)
4)   Try to keep Severus in character, the inner conflict of wanting what he
should not but determined to try to have the woman he believes he loves.
Things to include:
1)   A kiss between Severus/Hermione in the rain
2)   A confrontation between Severus and Hermione’s husband
3)   A woman Hermione confides in (other than Ginny)
4)   Someone who tries to persuade Severus in a concerned way that he is
wrong in his pursuit of a married woman other than Dumbledore and Lupin.
  (They have been used enough as Severus’ support)
5)   A gossiper that does not help the situation.
6)   Both Severus and Hermione questioning what is right and wrong either together or separately.

How this ends is up to you.  Do Severus and Hermione end up together?  If so,
how and why.  The same goes for if they do not end up together. 

Bonus: use the phrase “Thou shalt not….” Fill in the rest.

Challenge ends February 14th, 2004.  Please post at least the first chapter (if
multiple chaptered) before then.

Angstier Than Thou Challenge

Severus Snape is fed up.
Hated and feared by students, alone in a sea of friendly Hogwarts teachers, the Dark Lord's toy, suffering from constant after-effects of Cruciatus, he decides to put an end to his misery.
In other words, to kill himself.
(But of course I could never really kill Severus, and that's why Hermione steps in...)
Hermione, yes. Can she stop her Potions Master from comitting suicide? And what happens afterwards?
These are the rules:
* It's up to you if Snape wants to throw himself from the top of the Astronomy tower, put a Muggle gun in his mouth or cast Avada Kadavra, or whatever you may come up with.
* He does not succeed, of course, because that would be too depressing.
* Must include some kind of SS/HG action, wheter it be friendship or love.
* Must include a scene with Dumbledore in close-to hysterics with worry and sadness because he almost lost his Potions Teacher (and spy, cough, cough). If you want sucide notes or something like that, it's up to you.
Well, that's it. I can't really say 'have fun' now, can I? Hmm, Good Luck seems more appropriate. Whatever.
Oh, and this challenge ends January 12th.

The April Fools Day Alphabet Challenge

The wackiest excuse for a challenge ever on WIKTT.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write a SS/HG story with a title that starts with X or Z, upload it on a public archive [...]
WHY, you say, does such a nonsensical challenge even exist?  Good question.
Hereon the Snape/Hermione fiction links archive, there is an alphabetical list of stories.  The only two letters of the alphabet that have no entries areXandZ.  This challenge aims to change that!
This challenge has only four rules:

• It has to be Snape/Granger.

• It has to mention April Fools Day (April 1) in some capacity.

• It has to be completed, posted to a public archive and linked at DarkSarcasm: The Snape/Hermione Collection  by April 1 (that is because I hate WIPs on the DarkSarcasm DB) and

• It has to have a believable, justifiable, grammatically-correct title that will result in its being listed either under X or Z in the archive.

Bedside Table Challenge

When Harry is in the infirmary,  his bedside table is littered with
sweet and get well cards.

Well, Voldemort is finally defeated.

Harry was not harmed but Snape is in the infirmary,

either because he actively fought Voldemort

or doing his duty as a spy...

or protecting Harry


Snape is seriously injured and has fallen into a coma.

But Snape's bedside table is empty. Not a single get well card, no
sweets, nothing.


Hermione notices that and realizes that nobody really cares..

Ron mumbles his usual curses..

Example: "I hope he hurts a lot...." and

Harry is more interested in Quidditch or other things

Even Dumbledore does not really seem interested in telling Snape how
much he appreciates his actions. The headmaster has more trivial matters in his head.
Like a party because they got rid of Voldemort or something similar.



Snape is not waking up.

Hermione hears Poppy say something like "Why should he come back, there is nobody here that
actually wants him back anyway. He has no reason to."


Poppy is the only one showing sympathy.

Hermione starts questioning herself and her surroundings.

She realizes the utter lack of any concern for Snape in a lot of other people
that usually hover about Harry when the boy is injured.

She starts sitting at his bed, trying to coax him out of his coma.

Until she falls asleep.

In her dream
or in their joined consciousness ( joined with Snape),

she meets the true Severus...

either what is left of him
or what he is behind all that bitterness
or something else...

Birthday Challenge

Well, it is Severus Snape’s birthday and everyone has forgotten again.  Not that he cares.

Or does he?

The truth is, not everyone has forgotten his birthday, although he my or may not know this.
Dumbledore most assuredly remembers, as does Minerva McGonagall.

And, surprisingly, so does one Miss Hermione Granger.

How she found out is up to you, but today, Hermione decides that Snape has been friendless long enough! 
He needs a birthday present.

What does she get him?  What would be the perfect gift for the snarky Potions Master?

At the beginning of the story, Hermione and Snape are not in a relationship beyond teacher/student
or acquaintances if this takes place after her graduation; but by the end,
they should be.  Whether they have a romantic relationship (preferable) or merely a more understanding
friendship is up to you,
but they have to be on better terms with each other than they were before. 

Note: if you do make a romance, please make Hermione post-Hogwarts before any, um, intimate happenings take place.

Another note!  I know how much we all love smut, but try to think of something else for Severus’ birthday present! 
I understand the appeal of tying Hermione naked to his bed, but use your brains! 
You can up with something more creative!  (The smut can come later *wink*.)

This challenge seems like it would be better suited to a short, light, fluffy fic, but if inspiration strikes
you can take it any direction you wish, providing all other requirements are met.

Requirements:
1.   Hermione is the only student who knows it’s Snape’s birthday.  Does she tell anyone else?
2.   Dumbledore and McGonagall may or may not be the only staff members to know,
but Severus has asked people not to spread it around.
3.   At least two of the following quotes must appear:
“Crikey, she’s a beaut!”
“Pink, please.”
“Leprechauns, Veelas and house-elves, oh my!”
“Would he like Passions of the Heart?  Or do you think Sweltering Lust is more his type?”
4.   Severus must have a reaction to the present. 
Does he like it?  Does he hate it?  Is it embarrassing?

Bonus points for taking it on after the birthday!  Try to have fun with this, it’s meant
to show the light side of SS/HG fics.

Blackmail? How… Slytherin…
Welcome, welcome, one and all, to the newest challenge from… *cue cheesy music*… ME!
Okay, so here’s the dish. It’s another high-tension, high-angst (even if it’s humorous angst) challenge. Lots of sarcasm, even some unintential (or not) innuendoes. Here’s how it starts:
Hermione somehow ends up in detention (cliché, I know), but it has to be for doing something really original in class. (Such as flashing Snape, hint, hint.)
Our good Hermione must catch Snape in the act of doing something fairly surreptitious… and be willing to black-mail him for it. >)
It is up to you what his punishment shall be, but I must add that it should be something really good, and not necessarily sexy. Just make it fun to read.
Fic may be one-shot or multi-chaptered, with lots of description, and please, make sure it’s been edited or beta’d.
As many of the following quotes as you like may be included, but try to at least use four:
“Miss Granger, may I remind you that curiosity killed the cat? You’re looking awfully Kneazle-ish as of late.”
