Plot Bunny - Not So Pure - by telosphilosp
Snape was born a quarter Satyr, not so pureblooded after all
Well, this plot bunny has been bugging me for a long long while. I am writing it here to get rid of it, I hope.
My bunny is rather simple really. I picture Snape as not being part vampire at all, but rather a quarter Satyr. His
mother would have been half and half and his father learned of it after the marriage. His father married a gypsy, how
that happened, I'm really not sure. I actually pictured him as one of multiple sets of twins, where only two of the six
children actually look human enough to bear the Snape name. Severus isn't the oldest, but his fraternal twin brother
has cloven hooves. He has one acknowledged sister, and the rest either were hidden by the family or raised by his
mother's people.
Severus spent a lot of time with his mother's people along with his human looking sister and the other Snape siblings.
Snape and his human looking sister however were mutilated to have their horns and tails removed permenantly so
that it would be imposible to tell that they weren't human and then trained as old fashioned pureblood heirs. The
pureblood way of life is actually counter-instinctive for them, but it was rather brutally enforced on them. Severus
relaxes a lot when he is with his mother's people and visits them frequently when he can.
So, from this point on it is actually more like a split between bunnies:
First bunny: The gypsy caravan goes to visit Hogwarts and Hogsmeade to be near Severus who is seriously ill, but
hiding it. Hermione visits the camps along with a lot of over students and learns the gypsy dances. Severus even
plays his pan pipes and dances as well. The students are permitted to stay the night in the camps, but with a culture
lesson or two about how the gypsy's view the world differently. The students wind up sleeping with the younger
gypsies in a dog pile by the camp fires. Hermione and Severus get together from there. His familly likes her and
starts trying to encourage her to see more of the facets of his personality and to really see him for who he is. They
wish to set up the match because Severus needs a suitible wife to compliment his person for his satyr blood before he
gets much older because he will become very very ill and die otherwise. He is knowingly pushing the limits of his
endurance with celibacy because of a lack of suitably of age women in a consentual arangements. His relatives are
doing their best and Hermione is the best canidate availible according to their spells. In this one, Severus may or may
not be engaged in dangerous espionage activities.
Second bunny:
In this one, Severus is definately still working as a spy. His instincts as a part satyr have recognized his compliment
some time ago. The compliment to a satyr is the person who best compliment's the personality of the satyr. (In this
one, Severus' mother didn't marry her compliment and it came to a bad end, I don't have a plan out for why it
happened.) When the satyr or person with satyr blood recognizes their compliment, they have to suduce, woo, court,
what have you the compliment into marrying them in a full bonding marriage with no possible divorce with no real
coersion of any sort. The satyr's horns begin to grow again and won't stop growing until the satyr has consumated
the marriage, then they fall out and regrow at a shorter length which is still indicative of the wait.
In the case of our dear potions master, he knows he has met his compliment, but actively avoids acknowledging it
because it is obviously one of his students and he is a spy in Voldie's inner circle. He knows as of Hermione's first
menses, but he actively surpresses the knowledge that it is her until it is too late. I'll expand on this in a minute.
His tail grows back in late puberty, putting an end to his many sexual conquests while at school, going on to more
emotionally intimate and less physical relationships instead. His horns grow back at the same time, but he keeps them
hidden with a charm and his hair. He has been there and done that when it comes to sex, but rape is counter-
instinctive and really rather anathema to him, so that was not a part of his death eater activites.
The scene I have opens with Severus very ill, but called to his Dark Lord's side to work on a complex potion.
Severus brainstorms on the ingredients and technique for a moment aloud before telling Voldie that he will start the
potion, but that some one else must finish it as he will not be able to do so. The dark lord demands an explination,
with holding the unforgivable, as he senses that there is something really not quite right with his potions master.
Voldie knows Severus is not fully human, but is the only one in the room aside from the man himself who knows that.
Severus explains in short terms that Lucius should be able to complete the potion, but that he expects to be in his final
coma in two weeks time. His one request from his lord is to have his mark removed so that he can be burried without
ministry or Dumbledorian inquiry. The room is stunned, no one realized he was so very ill and still carrying on.
Voldie asks him to take off his illusions and show him. He does so and asks if he might be seated somewhere as he is
very tired from teaching the brats all day. Voldie is shocked at the sheer lenght of the horns. It is very obvious to
him what his potion's master is suffering from, but the cause isn't.
He asks, "Who is she?"
Severus answers "A mudblood."
Voldie asks again "Why didn't you just take her under imperio and be done with it?"
Severus sighs and says "It doesn't work like that, any form of coersion negates the intended effect. I couldn't be loyal
to you and have her at the same time. There was just no two ways about it."
"I see. " Voldie looks rather upset. He is loosing a great asset because of his very faithfulness. "Does the Old Man
know of your condition?"
"No, he does not. He knows what I am, I wasn't able to hide that, but the rest I have been able to keep quiet." The
long limbed potions master said from his slumped possition in the provided chair. "He shouldn't find out until I finally
fall into a coma."
"I see, who is she if you couldn't court her at all?" Voldie asks gently, almost sympathetically.
"A student, mudblood, Griffendor, .. I've been trying not to think about it really beyond that." Severus replied.
"To extend your time by not acknowledging it?" Voldie teased slightly.
"Well, it worked. Whoever she is, she's still a student and started her menses at least two, no make that three years
ago. I've lived a lot longer than anyone else in this condition." Severus replied.
Lucius was standing to one side, "That makes it one of your seventh years, maybe a sixth year. But could you explain
for the rest of us what some chit of a girl has to do with you dying on us?"
Voldie gave Lucius a warning look and answered. "Severus is a quarter Satyr. His mother was half. He is dying
because he has found his compliment, but not even tried to marry her."
A collective "oh" went around the room. It really explained a lot.
The scene goes on and the dark lord decided to grant his potion's master a boon and let him die free since it was the
mark and his service that were the cause. Lucius puts two and two together and asks Severus if the girl is Hermione
Granger and he says yes without thinking about it first. The removal of the mark puts Severus into shock and he
goes unconcious immediately. Lucius picks up his friend and floo's to the Three Broomsticks where there is a
Hogsmeade weekend going on. He gets a couple Slytherin students to carry, float, whatever, their head of house to
the school as fast as they can, while sending his own son to alert Mme. Pomfrey that she has a patient on the way at a
dead run. He goes to explain to the Headmaster after seeing Severus into the Hospital wing.
The Headmaster is shocked, figures it out, and tells Hermione exactly what is going on. Proceed from there. I have a
hospital wedding after which his is transfered to his quarters and lots of nc-17 bits to round it out, but nothing more
after that, so this bunny is up for adoption.
